Limburg region felt hats

The Limburg felters made hats in my own workshop, under my supervision—hats/caps, as I call them. They worked enthusiastically, with beautiful results, and I hope they’ll be worn a lot. These are also great for cycling! Thank you! Kind regards, Annemie

REGION LIMBURG
Making hats
We had an educational creative day in the region. We went hat making and that’s quite a job, but a fun job when it comes to felt. We also had a special guest that day, our national chairman Marije Kooi. She talked with us about the region, how things are going, where the bottlenecks are, and where changes or adjustments might be needed. Sometimes that’s difficult because you can’t always put your finger on it. So we all started making hats, everyone according to their own insight, concerning colours and decoration, because it does follow certain rules, and you have to stick to them, otherwise it won’t be a hat.
It was fascinating to see how everyone made their own creations. There were members from Maastricht who had brought special hat molds with them. They were antique and very beautiful. They had borrowed them from a creative center where they volunteer, also with felt.
The hats turned out really great, maybe not for everyday use, but some members had made them with a special purpose. A hat for the carnival, which is very close by in this region, because for the enthusiasts it will start again on the eleventh of the eleventh and then you’ll look great with a special hat where there’s only one of its kind!
